This beautiful space is home to a busy professional couple with three young children. When they embarked on a kitchen remodel, it was all about making their space work for family life. As second-time homebuyers, they envisioned a complete renovation that would accommodate their growing family.
After discovering the elegance of shaker-style solid oak in the studio, they knew it was the perfect fit. This open-plan kitchen is bathed in natural light, making it a perfect candidate for dramatic black cabinetry, worktops, and brassware – a striking combination of statement and functionality.
The ‘wow’ factor of the oak combined with ample storage not only meets the practical needs of family life but also adds a bold and luxurious feel to their space. This unique kitchen proves a valid point: a busy family home can have both style and practicality.

The beautiful breakfast unit with pocket hideaway doors provides a clever solution for stowing smaller appliances. When the doors open, warm white LED strip lighting highlights the barware and accessories.
The pantry unit was equipped with push-to-open shelves for easy access to food storage. We added wicker baskets and bespoke oak condiment racks, maximising the storage space while keeping the kitchen organised and tidy.
Storage was at the heart of this design. To maximise space, we added push-to-open cabinets at the back of the island, with an overhang that doubles as a seating area. Practical and stylish, it’s the perfect solution for this busy family’s needs.
Given the dark cabinetry and worktops, we opted for a simple mirror splashback from Mirrors by Design. This sleek touch helps bounce light around the room, enhancing the natural light and overall sense of space.
