When you walk into your bathroom, you want to feel a sense of relief. A clean, clutter-free space that aligns with the rest of your home. At Amberth, we love a good makeover. Especially when it’s a bathroom. This is the story of how a tired bathroom transformed into a minimalist haven. Spoiler alert: it has a happy ending.
The Project: Before
Like so many bathrooms Amberth has renovated, this one had potential. The first thing we noticed upon entering was its spaciousness. But cluttered surfaces, outdated fixtures, and a lack of cohesive design made it a space you’d want to spend as little time in as possible
We had the privilege of taking the reigns and managing the design, build, and installation. The goal? A minimalist bathroom that’s clean. Sleek. And easy to maintain.
After: Minimalist And Tranquil

“Like most people, our old bathroom was purely functional, and I practically had to close my eyes every time I walked in. Now, I can’t stop admiring it. It’s a completely transformed space. Amberth took charge from the very beginning, managing everything seamlessly from design to the grand unveiling. Now, when I go to the bathroom, I don’t want to leave. If you want to know a secret, sometimes I lock the door just to enjoy the tranquillity. It’s a heavenly retreat away from the hustle and bustle of life.“
Can you believe it’s the same bathroom? That tired, drab space has now become bright. Clean. And Calming. With a minimalist style that brings all its best features to light.
Now, clean lines are complimented by neutral colours, with a gentle statement through gold fixtures in line with 2024’s trends. The new bathroom feels open and serene. It’s a place that invites you to unwind. The atmosphere feels sophisticated, polished and alluring.
Flooring With Finesse
The beige flooring was removed and replaced with Bert & May Black Pencil Cement tiles, adding depth and interest to this minimalistic design. It also contributed to the modern feel with a Pan-African flair.
To continue in that vein, we opted for a large, asymmetrically shaped mirror, visually balanced out by the gold-finished fixtures. Easy maintenance was high on the priority list; hence the use of sleek, high-quality materials. Making cleaning an absolute breeze.
Smart And Efficient Storage

Hidden cabinets and clever shelving keep this bathroom neat. Ample storage space was made by redesigning the existing boiler unit.
The fitted cabinet was custom-made with alpine white Egger laminate. And the internal drawers, encompassing satisfying and orderly dividers, were crafted from solid oak for a sumptuous look.
Space-Enhancing Features

The centrepiece of this transformation is the big walk-in shower. We achieved a harmonious flow by continuing the Bert & May Black Pencil Cement tiles along the shower floor, again enhancing the sense of spaciousness.
Recessed shelves, a popular choice in modern design, keep toiletries neatly tucked away. Encouraging that clean, minimalist look. The glass doors, now frameless, also contribute to an airy, light feel. It’s a perfect blend of form and function.
The transformation is nothing short of stunning. It has become a space that invites you to relax and take a moment to yourself, instead of reminding you of the busyness of your day. Hopefully, this makeover serves as an inspiration and a reminder that your bathroom holds the potential to become everything you envision it to be.
