Our environment has a huge influence on how we feel and what we do, and this doesn’t just apply to adults. The early years of a child’s life are very important for his or her health and development. Having a safe and loving home and spending time with family―playing, singing, reading, and talking―are very important. Also, getting creative, coming up with design ideas and playing with art are important parts of bonding and developing as a person.
There are plenty of ways you can create a fun space, which suits your child’s needs and personality!
Here are a selection of design ideas for children’s rooms.
Choose a theme
Surrounding your children with the things they love creates a fun and comfortable environment to be in. This can be anything from little touches, like this football-themed example below…

Or you can go all out, like with this travel and nautical themed room!

Children’s Artwork
Prints are a great way to brighten up a white bedroom, but they can often be quite pricey, so why not use your kid’s artwork to brighten up their room. Frame their favourite drawings and hang them up to create a cost-effective gallery wall. Not only will it add an affordable splash of colour to the room, but your child will be so proud to see their work hung up like in a proper gallery!

Paint Updates
Your child’s tastes are going to constantly change as they grow up, but you don’t have to start again from scratch every time they have a new favourite theme! It can be as simple as grabbing a few paintbrushes you have lying around the house and getting hold of some sample pots of paint to add a splash of colour to an old desk, or you can go for a more dramatic look like the one below!

Multi-functional Space
As your children grow, their room will need to accommodate a desk for study and plenty of additional storage space for books and equipment. Shop for multi-functional pieces of furniture that incorporate desk space with plenty of hidden, but accessible, storage. Remember that simple storage items such as boxes, baskets, hooks, hangers and wall organisers will all help to create an efficient space that still has plenty of personality!
